The MOB is open to everyone between the ages of 8 and 18. It is the junior section of the Retford Operatic Society, and was formed in 1991. There is no formal audition. The children are expected to work hard in rehearsals; but if they enjoy singing, that should be easy! The MOB perform a wide variety of music in concerts, shows and festivals. The MOB are a great group of young people who are very committed to keeping the standard of their performances high. |
The next MOB show has been chosen: We are in the process of securing the licence for this production. It will be a great show to do with lots of parts to include everyone. Auditions for principle parts have been held, parts have been cast. Calling all Parents: Beauty and the Beast is an extravagent production with fantastic costumes and sets. We are hoping as always that as many parents as possible will volunteer to help with th making of costumes, props and sets. No previous experience neccessary just a bit of enthusiasm and a desire to support our fabulous Mobsters. Have you got any ideas to help with fundraising? The more we get to help, the lower we can keep our costs. If you are interested give us a call!

MOB is run and supported by parents, without whom the MOB could not exist. The committee is elected at the annual AGM and is open to any parent who wishes to take part. The committee decides which activities the Mobsters take part in, and organise concerts, shows, and fundraising for music, costumes and scenery. We are always in need of more parents to share the load, if you would like to help MOB bigger and better, just speak to Carolyn White at any rehearsal. |
The MOB rehearse every Sunday usually 4pm - 6pm with a short break around 5pm where fruit drinks are provided. On the run up to a show, there may be exteneded rehearsals to allow for sufficient rehearsal time. Rehearsals are supervised by County Council Registered Chaperones - parents of the Mobsters. Mobsters are expected to spend some time at home learning, lines, lyrics and dance routines. |
